How to Apply for a Passport

Apply Online

This is the fastest and cheapest way to get your first Irish passport or renew your passport. Once you have your photo, it only takes about ten minutes!

Passport Online is the only way to apply for an Irish Passport in your country.

Passport Online will return your passport book, passport card and relevant supporting documentation directly to you.

Apply Online

If you are resident outside of Ireland, you need to use an APS2 application form.

APS2 forms are available from the Embassy of Ireland, Plot 25 Yusuf Lule Road, Kampala (after the Fairway roundabout) during consular services opening hours.

Applications must be made on an original APS2 application form. This application form is only available at Irish Embassies and Consulates; it is a different form to the form available from the Passport Office in Ireland.

Please read the notes and each section carefully before completing the application form. Application forms which are not correctly completed cannot be processed and this will cause unnecessary delays.

Applying for an Irish passport from Rwanda

If applying for an Irish passport from Rwanda, the application form can be collected from the British High Commission in Kigali, Rwanda. The requirements and passport fees can be found on www.dfa.ie (and on this page).

The applicant must send the completed application form and all required documentation by courier to the Embassy of Ireland in Kampala, and arrange with the courier service for subsequent collection of the passport. Fees for passport applications from Rwanda must be paid for in Euros.
