17.10.2022, Bangkok, Thailand: The Irish Film Festival is returning to Thailand this year for its fourth edition, with a line-up of three films in Bangkok and Chiang Mai in October and November.
Opening the festival on 31 October will be the Thai premiere of Irish director Lorcan Finnegan’s psychological thriller Nocebo. Starring Eva Green (Casino Royale, Sin City, 300), Mark Strong (RocknRolla, Sherlock Holmes) and Chai Fonancier, the film centres on a fashion designer who suffers from a mysterious illness that confounds her doctors and frustrates her husband. Help arrives in the form of a Filipino nanny who uses traditional folk healing to reveal a horrifying truth.
Ambassador of Ireland to Thailand Pat Bourne said: “We are thrilled to once again bring bold, exciting and unique Irish films to the people of Thailand, especially Nocebo with the support of Night Edge Pictures. The people of Thailand and Ireland share a love of entertainment and we look forward to welcoming people back to the festival this year.”
Night Edge Pictures COO Hans Audric Estialbo added: “We are honoured to bring Nocebo to Thai cinemas this Halloween season, especially kicking off its release at this year’s prestigious Irish Film Festival. It’s a multicultural film that promises to thrill horror fans and rekindle everybody’s love for enjoying movies at the cinema. It’s an absolutely must-see!”
Hosted by the Embassy of Ireland, this year’s festival will be comprised of two feature films and a documentary. Films will be screened in English with Thai subtitles.
