18 June 2020To mark 30 years of diplomatic relations between Ireland and Romania, the Embassy of Ireland in collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute marked the occasion with the production of a short film on Bloomsday which featured readings from Ulysses performed by Mircel Iures and Ionut Pascu and music associated with Ulysses was performed by Adrian Petrescu.
A celebration of Bloomsday was held at Carturesti Carusel which was also marked by readings in Romanian and English along with music associated with Ulysses. His Excellency Ambassador Paul McGarry opened proceedings with a brief talk on the relevance of Joyce and his writings in the 21st Century. Adrian Petrescu performed the music associated with Ulysses and Ada Gales and Michael Hunt read extracts from the book in Romanian and English respectively.
