Embassy of Ireland in Manila, Opens 15 October 2021

Ireland’s newest diplomatic mission, the Embassy of Ireland in Manila, will begin its work on 15 October 2021. The mission will be accredited to the Philippines, Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands.

The new mission will strengthen political, economic, community, and cultural ties between Ireland and the Philippines.  Its establishment also demonstrates the Irish Government’s recognition of the growing potential and links in Asia Pacific, and the commitment to facilitate and strengthen these links.

The new Embassy will be responsible for representing Irish interests in the Philippines and accredited countries. The mission will work to support greater visibility for Irish culture and products and to facilitate a better business environment through engaging partners in the public and private sectors.

The Embassy is currently located in temporary offices in Makati, where it will work in colocation with the European Union Delegation.

Ireland’s Ambassador, William Carlos, stated “I am delighted that the new mission is now operational in Manila, and I am very honoured and greatly privileged to be appointed as Ireland’s first resident Ambassador for the Philippines.  I look forward to serving our people at home and in this region, and building deeper political and economic partnerships with the Philippines and in our countries of accreditation, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia and Marshall Islands.”

“We are two Island nations on the opposite sides of the world, but the connections between our nations has become increasingly close. Thousands of citizens from the Philippines call Ireland home, and make an exceptional contribution to our country. Ireland and the Philippines are significant trading partners, with total trade of approximately $1 billion. This new mission is a significant and important step towards deepening our political, cultural and economic partnership”

The new Mission forms part of a wider programme of investment in Ireland’s global footprint in recent years. I would like to thank the Filipino for their support with the establishment of our new diplomatic mission in Manila and wish my new colleagues well as we begin our work.
