St. Patrick’s Day Message from Ambassador Leslie

16 March 2021-
Dear Friends,
Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh, my very best wishes on St. Patrick’s Day.
This is an unusual St. Patrick’s Day, tinged with emotions for many people. I fully understand how difficult it is to not be able to see friends and family in Ireland and here in Indonesia, in person, for a second St. Patrick’s Day. There is much uncertainty, and it remains difficult to predict when we will be able to celebrate in the way we once did.
At the same time, I feel it is important to mark this day, Ireland’s national day, as a special date in the calendar. It is a time to come together as a community in the broadest possible sense. St. Patrick’s Day is also an opportunity to highlight what Ireland and the Irish community is achieving across the fields of business, culture, education and community organisations.
We have exciting virtual events happening in Indonesia and across the network in South East Asia. Here in Jakarta, I will be hosting a ‘Virtual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration’ on Wednesday, 17 March so please join me at 5.30pm (WIB) on Ireland.ie/Indonesia. I am also delighted to announced that Robert Troy T.D., Minister of State with responsibility for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation will be joining industry experts, Irish state agencies and our business community for our virtual business gathering on the evening of Thursday, 18 March.
In addition, we will be painting the town green on St. Patrick's Day by lighting up the National Monument, Monas and the Monkey Forest in Ubud, Bali.
As always, keep an eye on our social media accounts for updates, competitions and plenty more.
Warm wishes,
Olivia Leslie
