Ambassador Fitzgerald

I would like to welcome you to the website of the Embassy of Ireland in Athens, which I hope you will find useful.

I am delighted to represent Ireland as Ambassador to Greece. My role here is to work with the Embassy team to develop the good relationships which exist between Ireland and Greece, Serbia and Albania, to promote Ireland’s interests and values, and to encourage those who may not yet know much about Ireland to get to know us better. We share with Greece a strong commitment to EU membership, and we work with them to strengthen the EU, as well as supporting the European vocation of Serbia and Albania.

You can find information about Ireland here, and do get in contact with us if you would like to know more or to ask about any specific area.

Maintaining our links with Irish citizens living in, or visiting Greece and the region is also an important part of our work. Travel advice for citizens in relation to Greece, Serbia and Albania, can be found here, and here you can find information about the services provided by the Embassy, such as how to apply for Irish passports and visas. The COVID pandemic and associated restrictions have changed how we work, and how we provide services. For the time being, the Embassy offices are open by appointment only, but we are continuing to respond to queries as normal, and essential services are being provided.

We are very keen to keep in touch with the Irish community in Greece and with friends of Ireland. In more normal times, the Embassy organises and supports events, which bring Irish culture and heritage to Greece, and we will do so again once it is safe. If you would like to be added to our Embassy mailing list for news of events, please contact us.

In the meantime, we are keeping in touch via social media, and you can follow us on Facebook here and Twitter here.

Iseult Fitzgerald, Ambassador
