Visiting Ireland?

Tourism is a very important industry for Ireland.

In 2019, pre-pandemic, approximately 11.2 million tourists visited the island of Ireland contributing about €5.8 billion to the economy and helped sustain 325,000 jobs in communities across the island.  Germany is Ireland's third-largest source of visitors with almost 800,000 visitors from Germany arriving in Ireland in 2019, our highest number yet.

Ireland's main tourist attractions include its rich cultural heritage, scenery, friendly people and relaxed way of life.  It is also a popular location for sporting enthusiasts with numerous golf courses in addition to fishing, cycling, riding, water sports and other activities.

In 2014 Ireland's first long-distance touring route opened.  Known as the Wild Atlantic Way, stretching all the way from the Inishowen Peninsula in Co. Donegal to Kinsale in Co. Cork, this route rivals the world's best driving tours, along 2,500 km of the wildest, most captivating scenery, with lots to do and see along the way.
