Ambassador Parkin presents her credentials to President Niinisto

Welcome message

It is a great privilege to serve as Ambassador of Ireland to the Republic of Finland, and to continue Ireland’s cooperation with our close partner Finland.

I was honoured to meet President Niinistö on 10 September 2020 at the start of my time here having presented my credentials, signed by the President of Ireland, remotely due to the pandemic.

Finland and Ireland are small, like-minded nations, with deep bonds of friendship. These bonds are evident in our strong partnerships in the European Union and the United Nations, and other multilateral organisations as well as in our bilateral relationship.

Like my predecessors, I have been delighted to discover the variety of historical and recent links between Finland and Ireland - in politics, culture, sports and business.

During my time here I am looking forward to meeting the many friends of Ireland across this large and fascinating country.

I hope to further build and develop connections between the two countries and to find new ways to grow our connections – in all their aspects, including trade, business, culture, education and tourism.

In carrying out this work I, and the Embassy, will continue to work closely with Enterprise Ireland, Tourism Ireland, Bord Bia and IDA Ireland.

I hope that you find this website and the links it contains informative and do please contact us at the Embassy if you have any queries.
