12 June 2019Bloomsday is a commemoration and celebration of the life of Irish writer James Joyce. This year the Embassy organised a garden party on Wednesday, 12 June at our residence. Approximately 80 guests had a pleasure to listen to readings from Ulysses delivered by Prof. OndÅ™ej Pilný, Director of the Centre for Irish Studies at Charles University and his students, as well as a special reading by Ambassador Charles Sheehan. The readings were accompanied by music by Prof. Gerry Smyth and Ms. Esther Smyth.
