COVID-19 Travel Alert: Mandatory Hotel Quarantine

COVID-19 Travel Alert: Mandatory Hotel Quarantine

Updated May 28 2021

Belgium was removed from the list of designated states for Mandatory Hotel Quarantine on May 28.

From 04:00 on April 15, a legal requirement to enter quarantine at a designated facility (Mandatory Hotel Quarantine) will come into effect for any passenger arriving into Ireland from Belgium or who has been in Belgium in the previous 14 days, even if only transiting and remaining airside.

There are very limited exemptions to this requirement.

These arrangements also apply to any passenger arriving in Ireland and who is travelling on to Northern Ireland.

Full details on MHQ can be found at www.gov.ie/quarantine

Passengers arriving in Ireland must complete a mandatory COVID-19 Passenger Locator Form and submit it to the relevant authority at their port of entry and show a negative result of a pre-departure RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival in the State. Full guidance on travel to Ireland during the COVID-19 pandemic is available at gov.ie

The list of designated states for MHQ is revised on a regular basis and can be subject to change at short notice.
