27 May 2019Le Chéile workshop presentation
New South Wales has a vibrant and diverse Irish community that is represented by an impressive line-up of organisations, ranging from sporting, to outreach, cultural, LGBT+ and business. The Consulate hosts a series of workshops, called Le Chéile (‘together’ in Irish), for these organisations. The bi-monthly workshops provide a regular forum for community development, networking and collaboration. They include expert speakers and opportunities for members of the community to make a pitch to the organisations present.
Le Chéile is funded under the Irish Department of Foreign Affair and Trade’s Strategic Diaspora Development Fund. The Fund supports consulate and embassy initiatives that engage and build the capacity of diaspora groups in innovative ways. It forms part of the Irish Government’s Emigrant Support Programme which since 2004 has delivered more than AUD $270 million to support the activities of Irish organisations overseas.
The workshops are free and open to all Irish related organisations in New South Wales. Further information is available from the Consulate (sydney@dfa.ie).
