Team Ireland in China

The Consulate works to enhance Ireland’s political and economic relationships in East China to support economic growth and jobs; raise the profile of Ireland and Irish culture; and maintain and enhance links with our Irish diaspora.

We work closely with the Embassy of Ireland in Beijing, Consulate General in Hong Kong and the Irish State Agencies in China (Bord Bia, Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland and Tourism Ireland) to promote trade, tourism and inward investment.

We:

  • Support Irish companies who want to access the Chinese market
  • Provide general advice on doing business locally and, through our network of contacts, pursue opportunities that will benefit Ireland
  • Work to secure market access for Irish products in key sectors
  • Promote Ireland as a location for tourism, for education and for investment

The Embassy and the Consulate in Hong Kong also provide consular assistance to Irish citizens resident in and visiting China.

Working with the right expertise in relevant state agencies is part of our successful strategy.

Enterprise Ireland

Enterprise Ireland (EI) is the government organisation responsible for developing and growing Irish enterprises in world markets. With offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, it also has a network of nine regional offices throughout Ireland and over 30 international locations.

IDA

Ireland's inward investment promotion agency, IDA Ireland (Industrial Development Agency) is responsible for attracting and developing foreign investment. IDA Ireland has offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.

Bord Bia

The Irish Food Board, known as Bord Bia, acts as a link between Irish food and drink suppliers and existing and potential customers throughout the world. Bord Bia’s Asia-Pacific office is in Shanghai.

Tourism Ireland

Tourism Ireland markets the island of Ireland as a holiday destination overseas. It devises and implements world-class marketing programmes and provides industry partners with opportunities to market their own products and services. Tourism Ireland works with TLM Marketing in China to promote Ireland to Chinese tourists.

Irish Community

The Consulate also works closely with very active and dynamic Irish Community groups to support their activities and the deepening of Irish diaspora links and to raise the profile of Ireland and Irish culture in Shanghai and the surrounding region.
