Local Greening

On March 17, millions of people with connections to Ireland celebrate St. Patrick’s day and America’s deeply historic connection to Ireland.

Whether you walk in a parade, sing in a seisún, or celebrate around the dinner table at home, St. Patrick’s day is a day for family, community and the color green, Ireland’s national color.

Every year, cities light up their iconic landmarks in green, like San Francisco’s Coit Tower, or Sydney’s  Opera House. We’d like to invite you to participate in this international celebration by lighting something local in green. It doesn’t have to be a skyscraper or ancient monument: it could be your porchlight, your bike, or your business. Anything easy, eye-catching, and inspiring.

Take a look at the example above, and let us know what you'll illuminate. Show us how you went green by sending us a photo at Irelandinsf@gmail.com by March 20th so that we can share images on our social media channels from across our consular region.
