Centenarian Bounty

The Centenarian Bounty is awarded by the President of Ireland to Irish citizens who have reached 100 years of age.

What is the Centenarian Bounty?

It’s a payment, accompanied by a letter of congratulations, signed by the President.

Am I eligible?

You’re eligible to apply for the Centenarian Bounty if:

  • You’ve reached your 100th birthday
  • You’re an Irish citizen, born on the island of Ireland, and living outside the State
  • Please note, it is not possible to make payment of the Centenarian Bounty to the estate of a deceased person. Payment can also not be made even in cases where a person did reach their 100th birthday but where the application process was not completed before their death.

You (or your representative) should complete the application form and return it to:

How it began?

The first President of Ireland, Douglas Hyde, introduced the Centenarian’s Bounty in 1940 when a gift of £5 was given.
