Visit of Minister Charles Flanagan to UAE 2015

In December 2015 Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charles Flanagan TD, visited the United Arab Emirates following an invitation from his Emirati counterpart; HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Discussions were held between Minister Flanagan and HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Foreign Affairs, on regional political issues and the bilateral and trade relationship.  In addition, Minister Flanagan also met with HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, HE Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Finance.

Minister Flanagan had meetings with Irish business leaders and members of the growing Irish community residing in the UAE. 

The economic relationship between Ireland and the UAE is flourishing with total bilateral trade in 2013 valued at €1,094 million. The visit of Minister Flanagan to the UAE developed further the growing bilateral ties between Ireland and the United Arab Emirates.
