First GAA World Games
The Embassy supported the visit by Minister Paul Kehoe on the occasion of the inaugural GAA World Games. The Minister and Ambassador Hennessy both delivered statements to the Business Forum with which the week-end programme opened.
The Forum was well attended with an audience of approx 180. There was a particularly positive response to the statement delivered by HH Sheikh Nahyan , Minister for Culture, Youth and Community Development. Sheikh Nahyan subsequently attended the opening of the Games proper.
The Games were a great success. The Middle East County Board, aided by the local club, did a very impressive job in organizing a complex programme with many moving parts.
