Film Screenings: '1916 - The Irish Rebellion'

'1916 - The Irish Rebellion' is a special documentary released to mark the centenary of Ireland's East Rising.

On the centenary of Ireland's Easter Rising, '1916 - The Irish Rebellion' tells the dramatic story of the events that took place in Dublin during East Week 1916, when a small group of Irish rebels took on the might of the British Empire. Although defeated militarily, the men and women of the Easter Rising would wring a moral victory from the jaws of defeat and inspire countless freedom struggles throughout the world.

The documentary, narrated by Liam Neeson, features a combination of rarely seen archival footage, new segments filmed on location worldwide, and interviews with leading international experts.

The film will be screened in English with Polish subtitles on Monday, 20 June at 18.00 in the National Audiovisual Institute (NInA), Wałbrzyska 3/5, Warsaw. For more information and to reserve a place, please see here.

A second screening will take place on Tuesday, 28 June at 18.00 in Dom Spotkań z Historią, Karowa 20, Warsaw. This screening will be followed by a discussion with Ambassador Gerard Keown.

The screenings will be in English with Polish subtitles. Entry to both screenings is free.
