In the aftermath of the recent UK referendum, Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr Charles Flanagan T.D., published an Op Ed in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on 25 July on Ireland’s response to the referendum and the importance Ireland places on its European identity and membership of the European Union.

On 21 June 2016, the Embassy of Ireland, Berlin, was delighted to host a breakfast roundtable with 8 leading German animation companies, along with representatives of both EURES Ireland (the European Employment Services section of the Irish Department of Social Protection) and Animation Ireland, to present the Experience Your Europe (EYE) Co-sponsored Placement Programme, which will see a number to Irish animation graduates placed in leading German animation studios from Autumn 2016.

On 18 May 2016, against the backdrop of the Royal Irish Academy’s exhibition “Portraits and Lives,” the Embassy of Ireland will host an evening of poetry, film and song to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising.

Irish Cultural Festival, Stuttgart

Marking the anniversary of the Easter Uprising of 1916, a Festival of Irish Culture is being organized in Stuttgart from 19 – 26 March 2016 to include traditional and contemporary Irish Music, poetry, dance, interactive discussions with Irish composers and a multi-media arts exhibition.

Faraway Longings - Exhibition (1916-2016)

Faraway Longings is an exhibition curated by Berlin based Irish curator Sheena Malone looking at the positive impacts of the Irish artistic diaspora in Germany 100 years after 1916. The exhibition opening will be at the Irish Embassy in Berlin in February 2016 and will incorporate works that touch on the themes of freedom, travel and wandering.
