Ambassador Meets with English Teachers
Ambassador Cliona Manahan recently addressed the Annual General Meeting of the Danish Association of English Teachers in Adult Education (AETAE) in Copenhagen. The AETAEM, which was founded some 45 years ago in Denmark, aims to provide teaching professionals with a support network, including through providing opportunities to stay current with teaching trends.
Many of the AETAE’s teachers focus on Ireland when teaching intercultural modules, and include a week-long excursion to Ireland in their class syllabus so that students can visit the places discussed in class. In her remarks, the Ambassador spoke of the many ways in which Ireland and Denmark resemble each other, as well as the contrasts between the two states. The approaches both countries have taken with regard to energy, immigration, and welfare systems were among the many topics discussed.
