St. Patrick's Day in Australia
If you find yourself in Australia on St. Patrick’s Day, there is plenty going on in celebration of our Patron Saint
Ministerial visits
Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Mr Patrick O’Donovan T.D. will be the Government’s official representative on the east coast for the St Patrick’s Day period. Minister of State for Justice David Stanton T.D. will represent the Government in Western Australia.
Minister O’Donovan will be in Australia from 13th to 17th March. He will have official engagements in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, and Brisbane. Minister Stanton will be in Perth from 11th to 14th March for a number of official engagements. During their visits, the Ministers will promote trade, investment, and tourism between Ireland and Australia and will meet Irish community groups, political representatives, and business leaders.
Go Green for St. Patrick’s Day
Australia continues to be well represented in the Global Greening. This year we can confirm that the following buildings will #GlobalGreening:
Town Hall, Sydney, NSW
NSW State Library, Sydney, NSW
National Carillon, Canberra, ACT
Bell Tower, Perth, WA
Elizabeth Quay, Perth, WA
Perth Airport entrance and exit freeway, Perth, WA
Council House Building, Perth, WA
State Library of Victoria, Melbourne, VIC
Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Brisbane, QLD
It’s not just for buildings you know!
Tourism Ireland is asking everyone to Go Green. Why note pledge your own ‘greening’ event this St Patrick’s Day and involve as many people in your own professional and social networks as possible. Create a special event or occasion to introduce them to Ireland. Make 2017 the year you join the ‘Global Greening’.
Pledge your greening in advance of the 17th of March on Twitter using #GlobalGreening; and once you’ve had your greening event please don't forget to share the photos, again using #GlobalGreening.
St Patrick’s Day Parades, Festivals, and Fun Days
There will be St. Patrick’s Day parades and festivals happening across Australia. The Irish Government’s Emigrant Support programme is pleased to provide funding to support many of these.
And there are plenty of dining opportunities too with a number of lunches and dinners in celebration of our national day.
