Commemoration of the Centenary of the Easter Rising

The Embassy of Ireland is pleased to support this event organised by the Culture and Heritage Committee of the Celtic Club, Melbourne.

The commemoration will take place over the afternoon and evening and will begin with a discussion on the significance of the Rising chaired by Dr. Val Noone. Several relatives of volunteers who took part in the Rising will speak about the roles their forebears played. There will be a display of photos, artefacts, memorabilia, art and writings associated with the Rising as well as appropriate music.

Following the discussions, the film Mise Éire will be screened.

That evening, the Celtic Club will host a Dinner with Guest Speaker, Mr Richard O’Brien, former Ambassador of Ireland to Australia, who will talk on the Rising from an Australian perspective.
