Australia represented at Global Irish Parliamentary Forum

Representatives from Australia were among an international group of 44 Irish-connected parliamentarians who gathered in Dublin on 3 September for the first-ever Global Irish Parliamentarians’ Forum. The forum aimed to foster Ireland’s relationship with its diaspora by bringing together Irish-connected political representatives who serve in national parliaments and state assemblies in Australia, Canada, France, the UK and the USA.

New Musical production ‘The Haunted Celts’ in Canberra

The Embassy of Ireland is delighted to support a new musical production tracing Irish history from the early Celts to modern Ireland through music, song, and dance.Irish-born musical director and producer of 'The Haunted Celts', Caroline McNicholas, brings her production to Canberra at ANU’s Theatre 3 on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 August. The show features guest singers - exclusively brought over from Ireland - and a cast of over 30 dancers and musicians from Canberra.

Ms Niamh McMahon appointed Honorary Consul General for Ireland in New Zealand

It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Charles Flanagan T.D., of Ms Niamh McMahon as Honorary Consul General for Ireland in New Zealand. Niamh succeeds Rodney Walshe who retired in March this year.

Australasian Irish Studies Conference

The 21st Australasian Irish Studies conference will be held at Maynooth University, Kildare, Ireland from 18 to 20 June this year. The conference series was initiated in 1980 by the distinguished Irish historian Oliver MacDonagh.

Fieldays – a success for Irish companies in New Zealand

Ambassador White attended New Zealand’s National ‘Fieldays’ - the largest agricultural exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere - held in Mystery Creek. This year, seventeen Irish agri-sector companies, supported by Enterprise Ireland, exhibited at the event. Sales secured by Irish companies were in excess of $1m at the event itself, with a further $5m potential sales developed.

Australia and New Zealand represented at Global Irish Civic Forum

3-4 June 2015

The Irish in Australia and New Zealand were ably represented at the first Global Irish Civic Forum which took place at Dublin Castle on 3 – 4 June. The first ever Forum saw almost 200 representatives of over 140 organisations working with the Irish diaspora gather to share their experience.
