Ireland on Screen – Images of Liberty

As the first event on our calendar of commemoration and celebration, Ireland will be a special guest at the 12th Annual Pantalla Pinamar film festival in this Atlantic coast town in Buenos Aires province, in March. Ireland's entry, themed 'Images of Liberty' will include a gala screening of the Liam Neeson-narrated documentary on the 1916 rising, produced by Notre Dame University.

Later in the year, the Argentine Institute for Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) will help commemorate 1916 and celebrate Irish culture with a week-long festival of Irish work at the Gaumont Cinema in Buenos Aires. This will feature the best of contemporary Irish cinema as well as classics and special commemorative material from the archives of the Irish Film Institute.

This Irish cinematic showcase is made possible with the collaboration of the Irish Film Institute, the Irish Film Board and the Argentine Institute for Cinema and Audiovisual Arts.
