Please note that only applicants who are applying for one of the below preclearance schemes are required to pay the preclearance fee of $81 USD. All visa, preclearance, and return shipping fees must be submitted in the form of a money order, cashier's check, or bank draft made payable to the Consulate General of Ireland. Other forms of payment are not accepted. Please note that the visa/preclearance fee is an administration fee which covers the cost of processing your application. This fee cannot be refunded if your application is refused or withdrawn. Some applicants are exempt from the requirement to pay the visa fee. Please refer to the drop down Fee section that can be found below this notice for more information on visa fee exemptions.
All visa applications are processed in order of receipt and travel dates are taken into due consideration. The Consulate General of Ireland cannot guarantee that a decision will be made by your intended travel date if less than the required processing time is given. Moreover, the Consulate does not offer an expediting service for visas.
In order to ensure that resources can be used to the best effect, we ask that you do not contact the Consulate to seek updates on your application.
Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to confirm receipt of applications. If we require additional information or documentation, we will contact you via email.
Working Holiday Authorisation applications are also processed at the Consulate. Working Holiday Authorisation applications must be submitted by mail. It is not possible to submit applications in person at the Consulate or to pick up original documentation. Information on the Working Holiday Authorisation can be referred to here.
