Welcome to the website of the Consulate General of Ireland in Frankfurt.

The Consulate was established in 2019 under the Global Ireland initiative to represent Ireland in Hesse, Rheinland-Palatinate and Saarland.

Our main objective is to serve Irish citizens and promote Ireland’s interests, values and relationships in our consular area.

Ireland has a strong, dynamic and longstanding relationship with Germany that extends across the areas of trade and business, education and research, and culture and tourism.  Over 800,000 Germans visit Ireland each year.

The Consulate team works closely with our colleagues in Embassy Berlin and Ireland’s economic state agencies – Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, Tourism Ireland and Bord Bia – to support and strengthen these links.

The relationship between Ireland and Germany is underpinned by people to people ties, and there is a strong and vibrant Irish community in Frankfurt and our wider consular area.  Newly-arrived Irish people in Germany will receive a warm welcome from the Consulate and clubs and associations in Frankfurt and the region, including the GAA, the Irish Business Network and Irish cultural organisations.  You can find further information on our New to Germany page.

This website contains lots of information on the work of the Consulate and our colleagues in Embassy Berlin, including how to apply for Irish passports and visas, which I hope you will find useful. I’d also encourage you to follow our social media channels for the latest news and updates.

Le gach dea-ghuí/ With best wishes
