Minister Deenihan opens major Irish exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago

Minister for the Diaspora, Mr. Jimmy Deenihan TD, made an official St. Patrick’s Day visit to Chicago and Milwaukee in March 2015. While in Chicago, the Minister officially opened the Art Institute of Chicago’s major Ireland exhibition, Ireland: Crossroads of Art and Design 1690-1840.

The exhibition, the first public collection of Irish pieces of its kind in the US,included paintings, sculpture and architecture as well as ceramics, glass, furniture, metalwork, musical instruments, and textiles and ran from March until June 2015 with great success in Chicago.
