The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is in the process of drafting our new Statement of Strategy for 2017-2019 and we would welcome your input.

The Statement of Strategy will set out how we intend to implement the commitments for this Department in the Programme for Partnership Government over the next three years and how we will work with other Government Departments and Offices to implement whole of Government strategies and policies. It will also draw on our 2015 review of our foreign policy, The Global Island: Ireland’s Foreign Policy for a Changing World and on One World, One Future: Ireland’s Policy for International Development. In addition to this, the input of our key stakeholders and our customers will be a valuable part of the process.

The mission of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is to serve the Irish people, promote their values and advance their prosperity abroad, and to provide the Government with the capabilities, analysis and influence to ensure that Ireland derives the maximum benefit from all areas of its external engagement. This mission is articulated in our most recent Statement of Strategy. More detailed information on the Department’s activities – and the work of our Embassies and Consulates around the world - can also be found on this website.
